Jake Prigoff
Partner
New York
Jake is the fifth partner at Gaingels and leads the healthcare investments. His investment approach is strongly influenced by his experience as a physician and a patient. After battling Stage 4 Lymphoma, Jake quickly moved toward the healthcare sphere as a speaker and advocate, working with groups at Memorial Sloan Kettering and The SASS Foundation for Medical Research. Dr. Prigoff earned his bachelor’s degree in economics from the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor followed by medical school at Mount Sinai in New York City and training in General Surgery at Columbia University Medical Center. He also completed a Surgical Education Fellowship at Columbia and is an accomplished researcher with over 15 peer-reviewed publications, multiple academic presentations, and has written two book chapters. He also developed two medical devices during the height of the COVID-19 pandemic in New York City which were used to help thousands of clinical workers in the NYC area. In an effort to drive a broader impact on the healthcare ecosystem, Jake transitioned to a career in venture investing. He still serves as an advisor to Columbia’s Surgical Innovation Team as well as a variety of healthcare companies and joined Gaingels as a General Partner in January 2022 to lead the healthcare investments and strategy.
